Merry CHRISTmas Friends! In preparing for this wonderful time of celebration, I am reminded
of all the family and friendships God has blessed me with throughout the years and I'm so grateful!
In preparation for this occasion, I have been one of Santa's little elves working on this dollhouse. I found it unpainted at a yardsale at a nearby Antique Shoppe a couple months back. I thought it would be the perfect gift for our grandie, Cate.
I used gray for the roof, pink paint for the interior walls and a very light minty green for the external paint...and painted the front porch gray to match the roof. I even added pink shutters to the home, a MUST for all little girls.
The little doll standing in the front door is a mini Madame Alexander doll that I found at the outdoor yardsale as well. She came with the little boy sitting on the retro chaise lounge I made for the cottage. Finishing touches were the custom drapes I made for inside the home and a few pieces of furniture using what I had in my home. And, what would the home be without a few Christmas Wreaths hanging in the windows? Found those teency weencies at Holly Lobby. The pink lace, replicating a light pink snow, was found at Goodwill in perfectly mint PINK condition~ :)Cate will be surprised, and I will love adding to this cottage throughout the next several Christmases.
As I close in sharing my Christmas post today, please remember a dear Blogging Friend of mine from Mimi's Garden, Kathy Black, in your prayers. Her family experienced this week the highest high and the lowest low. Kathy's daughter in law, Jenny, and her son had their first child. Jenny experienced complications and as a result died on 12/22. The baby, a precious little girl, was born by emergency C Section and last I heard was doing fine. My heart has been so heavy for Kathy, her son and grandbaby girl...and the rest of the family. In your own celebrations this Christmas Season, please say a prayer for comfort & hope for Kathy and her family.
My heart & verbal reply screams out in response to all the Happy Holidays I hear in line and everywhere I go this year, Merry CHRISTmas~I chirp merrily back. I cannot leave Christ out of the REASON for this Season!

I too am so sad at Jenny's passing. That poor family. The Lord does work in mysterious ways.
But you are going to have a very happy little girl when she catches sight of that little house! Great job!

CATHERINE! WHat a delight to meet you today! AND TO THINK that we shall meet in Canada chez Claudie's! What a blessing this is going to be. I am so looking forward to this event and I have to thank you for taking the time to find me....in fact, HOW DID YOU FIND ME? I love your little pink house with the little dolly at the door! I never tire of toys and little girl things...you should see my studio...full of theatres and paper dolls.

I was so happy reading your post about this sweet doll house, and I even see my little tree with the blue bows I sent you. Sweet CC really sweet, but now I read this news? OMG, poor Kathy. I will look for that verse you told me about.
It's very late, 2:30 am. I'm going to bed now, and will say an extra prayer my dear friend.
We did have a lovely Xmas Eve at my sisters. Randy's dinner was outstanding.

It is a delight to see your comment and to come again to your wonderful post...I LOVE TEA TOO! I enjoy my pot of tea EVERY EVENING with frothed milk and my husband and I both enjoy this ritual.
Yes, our construction is really taking shape. Here in Minnesota, it is EXTREMELY cold, but our builders are up on the roof working away, ever since about 9:00am. It will be a wonderful spring to have this new structure to play with. I wish you the best New Years as you celebrate and ring in the new year.
I am also looking forward to more of your delightful posts as well!

OH! I would love to share the room with you up in Quebec! I just saw your email welcoming Dana as well! I just "met" her yesterday through Doré's blog, Burlap Luxe....this is going to be a blast of a meeting. Wow, hasn't blogging been fabulous? I feel that I am a part of a special enclave of the blog world. WHile I see many blogs out there for strictly fashion, politics, food, etc., I feel that those of us that combine many of those things with just a little extra something.....(LOVE, perhaps?) makes for an incredible caring group of women. very sorry to hear about your friends loss of Jenny. That is tragic indeed. Sometimes things in life are so very very hard.
I feel that poignantly this year as my son just died Nov. 11th. It has been heart wrenching.
So YES I too am very well aware of and remembering Christ this past Christmas....and as the new year approaches.
Hope to meet you at Claudies this summer if I can put it all together. What a great bunch of diverse ladies she has put together.
CC it was so good to hear from you today. I hope your holidays were filled with nothing but Blessings. I am so sorry to hear about your friends DIL. The Lord does have his own timing and reasoning, but it is so hard for us to understand. My heartfelt prayers are with them all.

Have missed your posts and seeing you around in blogland and wanted to come by and say "Hi" and make sure everything is ok. Hope that you are just very happily busy with life. I think life will slow down maybe just a bit today for me as it is -16 and I plan on staying cozy inside with lots of cups of tea!
