I can't believe I just purchased this lovely piece last Saturday, I have had my eye on her for so long in the shop she resided at for over a year...it was like we had this thing goin on...finally, nabbed her last week for just $149! Yea! My favorite buy of the decade. This is the before pic, she was beautiful like this, but I just knew she'd look even more fab in a "Francais et Chic" Shabby Chic makeover...

I wanted to show you a close up on the drawers because the intricate details were going to be so fun to distress...
First there was the sanding, my Beloved took care of that for me. Sanding away in the garage till I rescued her...the poor lil thing...all bare and sooty looking...
Inside, Once I got her cleaned off really well......(UH OH) I've got my pics switched. Well...anyways...First I primered her with KILZ, then painted this lovely eggplant paint on it. (leftovers from a tray ceiling that really looks chocolate/eggplant..but this pic really makes it look purple...noT! (smile)
Now........this was truly the Primering phase...

More primering... 8=) sighhhhhhhhhhh......... (Remember, the Eggplant color really went after the primering color first. Then......Voila, after many hours of sanding, painting, painting, drying...we have this...
Now, please, join me in telling my sister........she was born to be Shabby & Chic, come on... (wink) More details of the drawers for you. This project took me much longer than I had anticipated. I told my husband (after doing this before on smaller items) I'd have this done in 15 minutes. hahahahahahaha!

The legs are always my favorite to do...as you can probably see, the one back leg isn't distressed yet, gotta run down and do that RIGHT NOW! =) See you next M.Monday! This was so much "work"., but so much FUN too! Can't wait to see what project I "complete" by next Monday to share!

Catherine...this looks great! It is amazing how much work it is too sand, prime and paint a piece, isn't it? But so worth it when your done! Love this Met Monday post...now I want to go paint something! :-) Susan

I love your project. It turned out beautifully. So chic! I usually leave the refinishing to my husband. He's loves that sort of thing. I do love what you've done. I also read your comment on CarolinaJewel's site. I think you idead for a special retreat for married couples in crisis is just a God-thing. If that is in your heart, then step out in faith and put legs to it. Over the last several months I believe that God has revealed to me through prayer and study that He wants us to ask and trust Him for BIG things because He's a BIG God! My prayer for you today is that God will give you your dream!

Interesting transformation. I would have been afraid to try anything this ambitious. It certainly required a lot of hard work. As long as you're happy with the results, that is all that really matters.
