Bonjour les Amis
Oui?
Come, pour a cup of tea from my Blue Italian Spode Tea pot and sip awhile! You can even drink from "Rose Haven", my Blue Italian Spode teacup named after our very own Jan & Tom's blog, "Rose Haven"!
Wait a minute...or two, what's a gal to do without a Tea Cozy? Her friend makes her one? Oui?
Be sure to click on each logo for Meta Monday with Susan at Between Naps on The Porch and Sally over at Smiling Sally's for Blue Monday! Since I'm extremely early for the occasion, you may need to wait to drop on by their place till late Sunday or early Monday! ;) Remember, it's the Early Bird that always gets the worm, and this week I want it~ ;) just kidding...
A few years back a friend of mine loaned me her tea cozy made in England so I could figure out how to make a copy of it. Being raised with a mother as a seamstress, I was born to sew...that is after I learned from observing from Mother! ;) The first one I made I was quite proud of., I've shared it in a previous Tablescape Thursday...it was in shades of butter gold and blues.
Recently I got the itch to make another one...and this one was for a special friend, Claudie, from "Bubblin Over". With each piece of fabric I cut, I was excited...each stitch that I sewed on my Singer...I got more excited, and with each hand stitch I put into it...I visualized her using it all the way up in Canada when she has a friend over for tea. You see Claudie is all about pastels...
I found this "blue" vintage lace in my stash that I'd picked up...the fabric reminded me of the colors in her kitchen she loves...
I had purchased this lovely garland with soft shades of pinks and yellows and had it in my stash...hmm I thought, can I? Well, I'm gonna try! Yep, gonna try! ;)
I wanted the inside of the Tea Cozy to be pretty too...so I lined it with a nice contrasting color of fabric with a smaller floral print. I lined the cozy with flannel to keep the teapot all nice and "cozy", of course, while the tea is steeping! ;) Before I mailed it off, I had a "Handmade by Catherine" tag that I hand sewed inside the lining so Claudie will always remember that it was crafted especially for her from "moi" when we're in our 90's and she's using it! (smile) We have quite a ways to go yet, eh?
A~ha, I knew I could use that garland, when I attached the little pink loop at the top, it just needed that lil something extra...and that's exactly where some of the garland decided to take root...it's a FLORAL Tea Cozy, for real now! Not only are they on the fabric, their sprouting from the top as well! ;)

Un Thé Floral Confortable fait avec l'amour pour Claudie ! A another view as she's laying flat to appreciate the little vintage blue lace trim.
And, a final front view of only my second custom created Tea Cozy for my special friend Claudie!
I'm getting the itch to make a Royal Velvet tea cozy with Bejeweled buttons on it. I think I'll call it a
"Royal-Tea "Tea"Cozy"
What color do you think I should make it in?
A Royal Blue or Purple?
I may just decide to make one and use for my 100th Post Give Away...hmmm....yep, maybe I will!
Don't forget to leave your comment and tell me what Color you think I should make it in!

You are very crafty! Love the new cozy..
It all looks cozy too me, especially the "cozies!"
Love the teapot. I have a blue and white one as well, but not Italian. And I like the tea cozy. I've never really seen anyone use one before, but I've seen them! Yours came out really pretty!! Enjoy your weekend!
Oh that is really beautiful. It is something to be treasured and Claudia is lucky to receive it and I'm sure she will use it and remember you in her 90's.
C'est fantastique! Tu as bien réussi, Catherine! You are quite the seamstress. That wasn't easy - so pretty! (I'm having a cup of hot tea right now!) Linda
What a lovely gift. The details you have used are absolutely lovely. You can make mine in yellow and blue toile, ha,ha. What a lucky friend to receive such a thoughtful gift.
Bonjour, dear friend! What a lovely tea cozy you made for Claudie! I'm sure she's enjoying it! Wouldn't one in a pretty pink rose floral with lace trim make a wonderful gift for a friend?????
I think the purple velvet would be perfect...and the name you selected is quite fitting! You are sooo clever...and talented...and thoughtful!
Happy PINK Saturday!

Hi CC...gorgeous tea cozy! Claudie will love it! The fabric is so pretty and that garland is the perfect touch! Hope you are having a great weekend...Debbie
I know what color? Purple for sure. Then, when I come and stay in your purple room with those "drapes" lol, you can serve me some tea in bed with a purple Cozy.
Oh I love you so much, and my little hat from my Cozy friend.
The early bird gets the worm...are you full yet??
Love You & Happy Pink Saturday. I hope your using a pink mop to do all those chores!!!!
Love your French friend Claudie
xoxoxo
That turned out just beautiful. I thing you should go royal blue, but then purple would be pretty too, maybe toss a coin heads blue, tails purple (best 2 out of 3 of course).
Valerie
I love that teapot and your cosy is wonderful! I vote Royal Blue for the bejeweled one! :D Jewel

I am in such dire need of a tea cozy. Could you post your instructions? Or show us? These are prettier than anything I have seen anywhere else.

Catherine this is so pretty!
How kind of you to make it for her.
I must admit I had not heard of a tea cozy until now but it sure sounds like a neat idea.
I hear you had a birthday recently as well.
Happy birthday to you my friend!
Have a wonderful and blessed week ahead.
~Melissa :)
Oh, Catherine...this is beautiful! You could easily sell these and folks would snatch them up...soooo sweet and your attention to detail is absolutely amazing! Your friend in Canada is going to absolutely be delighted! Susan
Hi CC....what a pretty tea cozy...I love the touch of garland on top. It's the perfect finishing touch...But I did have to laugh when I first saw it..It reminded me of my mother...She had a tea cozy in her BR closet for years and years that she had made..not as pretty as yours but very useful for her purpose...Whenever she got spare money she would actually sew it inside the lining so my father couldn't find it...she always told me the day she died I should go straight for the tea-cozy...she had thousands in there at last count...Well she died a few years ago and was living with my brother at the time...I always wonder if she told him her secret hiding place or if someone shopping at Goodwill fell into a small fortune....
A nice cozy. I love that Spode teapot -- I have one too. But alas, no tea cozy to go with.
OMGoodness! I HAD that exact piece of fabric and I adored it. I have no idea where it is now, I probably sent it to my mother to use!
You're very talented, cute tea cozy! Happy Met monday!:O)
Oh, I love your tea cozy! You did a wonderful job and the fabric is so pretty.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Very pretty teapot, CC, and what a delightful tea cozy!
Happy Blue Monday!
That is a beautiful tea pot and tea cozy! Your mother taught you a great skill. I can't sew to save my life... Great job! Happy Monday!
I love both blue and purple and put the two together. Perhaps you can use Royal Blue with a purple trim. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.
I am stopping by via BNOTP. Great transformation! Lovely tea cozy.
Catherine! This is lovely. I love what you did and how you made it. Beautiful job and beautiful post.
Blessings,
Debbie
Both blue and purple are very royal sounding. I think I would wait and see what "hits" you the day you are making it!
How very lovely, the teapot, and the cozy. Just a wonderful gift!

Hi Catherine...
Ohhh my...what a fabulous tea cozy!!! I love the fabric that you chose...that pretty floral and the coordinating liner...ohhhh so pretty!!! I think that the pretty pink garland that you added to the top was the "icing on the cake"! I'm sure that your friend will love and cherish such a beautiful gift...I say that she's a lucky gal!!!
Hmmm...a royal tea cozy...sounds fabulous...I'm so intriqued and can't wait to see it! I think I would have to vote for the purple...of course, purple the color of royalty and it's one of my favorite colors too! hehe!!! Best wishes with your royal tea cozy project! Have fun, my friend!
Warmest wishes,
Chari
Oh, definitely purple! That's the color I think of when I think of royalty-tea for the teapot tea-cozy for a tea with royalty. . . um . . . I vote for purple.
Happy Blue Monday!
Robin
